The activities of the security campaign “Safe Summer Without Drowning” were launched yesterday evening, organized by the General Command of Fujairah Police, represented by the Media and Public Relations Department and the Youth Leadership Council, with the participation of Federal National Council member Nasser Al Yamahi, and in cooperation with the partners, the Civil Defense Department, Fujairah Municipality, Dibba Al-Fujairah Municipality and the Department of Works and Agriculture, Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, Environment Authority, Fujairah Scouts Commission and Fujairah Youth Council, with a group of volunteers from the Emirates Volunteer Platform, coinciding with the summer season and frequent beach-going, and continues until the end of this month.
The campaign targeted sea-goers on the various beaches of the emirate, resorts, hotels and farms, by distributing awareness flyers in several languages, including Arabic, English, and Urdu, in addition to spreading awareness, educating the public, and guiding beach-goers with safety standards and rules while swimming for the public and families to reduce drowning accidents.
Captain Mohamed Hassan Al-Basri, Head of Media and Public Relations Department, stated that the campaign comes to raise awareness among community members and beachgoers in light of the increasing demand for beaches with the start of the summer season, and to enhance the Fujairah Police strategy emanating from the Ministry of Interior strategy, which aims to provide the best services to the public. And ensuring readiness, by spreading security awareness and activating the role of partnerships in society in this aspect.
Al-Basri pointed to the importance of spreading security awareness through the available media, social networking sites, and field visits to beaches and hotels, in addition to the awareness bulletin through local radio and newspapers, and others, with the aim of reaching the largest segment of society.

Fujairah Police also appealed to members of the public and families of beachgoers to cooperate to achieve the desired goals of the campaign, and stressed the danger of families neglecting their children, especially while swimming, which has consequences for drowning and the death of life, and the need to wear a life jacket and swim in the places designated for it and not stay in sea water. After sunset, he took care of the danger of direct sunstroke during the summer, stressing that the responsibility lies with them in the first place. She also called for avoiding sites that prevent swimming and the necessity of constantly following the weather forecast issued by the National Center of Meteorology for the state of the sea and weather.
