Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Nikita Stasishin proposed to allow banks to issue mortgages remotely, reports RIA News… This scheme may become relevant if measures to counter the spread of COVID-19 are tightened, the official explained.
Stasishin said that it is necessary to act proactively – already now ask the Central Bank to again allow the remote registration of mortgage loans. This scheme was temporarily in effect in the spring of 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic was gaining momentum.
“There is nothing new in this, since if somewhere it is transferred to a remote location because of a lockdown, then we will be ready in advance,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Construction said during a speech in the State Duma. “This is what worked, gave a seamless lockdown and, most importantly, absolutely no money.”
The official said that the Ministry of Construction will officially send a corresponding proposal to the Central Bank, and expressed a desire to find out how banks relate to this initiative.
Earlier it became known that Russians have become more actively interested in the topic of early repayment of mortgages. In September 2021, the number of requests on how to carry out this operation correctly increased by almost 11 percent. Experts advised citizens to pay off mortgages less than six months after opening a loan.
