Russians detained at a military base in Albania said they were photographers
The Russians, who were allegedly detained in Albania while trying to enter an arms factory in the city of Gramsci, told the police that they were photographers. Their testimony leads Albanian Daily News.
Russian citizens said they were photographers and ran a blog where they posted pictures and videos from former Soviet military bases and factories. They added that they mainly photographed abandoned bases that are not used by the military.
Earlier, the Albanian authorities disclosed the names of the detained Russian citizens. It is indicated that they are 33-year-old Svetlana Timofeeva and 23-year-old Mikhail Zorin. The third detainee has a Ukrainian passport, the police said.
The detention of the Russians and the Ukrainian became known on the night of August 21. Two Albanian soldiers were reportedly injured during the arrest.
