In Russia, the demand for vaccination against coronavirus in paid medical institutions has increased. It is reported by RIA News with reference to the study of the Check Index service.
This service was used by 68 percent more Russians in 20 days of October than in the previous month. Most often, for money, people were vaccinated with the one-component Sputnik Light vaccine or one component of the Sputnik V vaccine.
On average, a client pays 1,100 rubles for a doctor’s examination and injection, while the vaccine itself is free. According to the service, the Russians began to use the paid service, wishing to avoid queues and remain under the control of doctors.
Earlier, Professor of the Mechnikov Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums, Doctor of Medical Sciences Mikhail Kostinov explained to Russians the procedure for vaccination against coronavirus and influenza. According to him, if a person has not yet been ill with COVID-19 and has not been vaccinated, then first of all, one should take care of the immune protection against coronavirus infection. “That is, two doses are given, and a month after the second dose, a flu shot is given,” he said. Those who had been ill with COVID-19 or were vaccinated against the virus about six months ago should give preference to a flu shot, and a month later get vaccinated against a coronavirus infection, the specialist said.
In June, President Vladimir Putin, during a speech at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum in early June, instructed the government to work out the issue of paid vaccination of foreigners. Prior to that, he promised to help foreigners wishing to get vaccinated in Russia.
