On February 6, the Russians won three medals: skier Alexander Bolshunov won gold in skiathlon, Denis Spitsov won silver in the same discipline, and Anastasia Smirnova won bronze in mogul. Thus, in total, the domestic team won five awards (1-2-2) and rose from eighth place to fifth. Norway is in the lead with two golds and one bronze.
Domestic athletes compete under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). The tricolor and the national anthem were banned due to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions.
