On the ranking website, the group defines itself as “a civil society initiative that evaluates senators and federal deputies in office, ranking them from best to worst, according to the criteria we have established: combating privileges, waste and corruption in public power”.
In practice, politicians who follow the criteria established in the anti-privilege, anti-corruption and anti-waste themes are well evaluated. While those who are against it, it gets worse. The 1st place in the ranking goes to the senator Eduardo Girao (We can-EC). The last place is the deputy I lived Reis (Psol-PA).
Gláucio says that the purpose of the platform is to influence congressmen inside and outside Congress, as well as professionals from the Chamber and Senate who work explaining the projects. Another form of influence is using social networks – the ranking profile on Instagram has 487 thousand followers.
The group classifies projects as positive or negative according to the 3 main values and the follow-up of a council of 40 experts. Thus, they evaluate the votes of congressmen with positive or negative scores.
“When there is 80% of the council’s vote in favor or against the matter, we position it. And positioning means what? We go to work on social networks and within the Congress so that that matter has that forwarding”said Glaucio.
Among the projects considered good by the Ranking is the new basic sanitation framework, for example. The Electoral Fund or its expansion is seen as negative.
APARTIDARY
On the platform’s website, the group says it is not exempt, as it defends certain flags, but also declares itself non-partisan. Digital influencer and Ranking of Politicians communicator Nanda Schmidt says it is possible that the public understands this separation because of the trust they have developed with the project over time.
“Sometimes [as pessoas] They don’t have time to inspect and everything else. So, they have this confidence in the Ranking of Politicians, because who wants corruption in Brazil? It is that what he said is connected with the common good”said.
Gláucio also states that the criteria established by the platform are constantly evolving and are updated from time to time.
For the October elections, the group is intended to be used as a tool to analyze candidates and help people choose their votes.
“Bringing quality information, I think that’s the main point. In this environment of fake news, of polarization. Bringing quality information, because there we only analyze objective data, how the guy voted. There’s no blah, blah, blah”said Glaucio.
