Quirinale, who deals with the real problems of Italy? Between public debt, abuse of office and corruption
One guy said, “I have three problems. I don’t know what to expect for the next game of the Milan. Then it broke down water heater, and with the cold it is bad. Finally my brother-in-law learned he had the cancer and my wife is desperate ”. Put this way, if it wasn’t about cancer, it would be a comedian’s joke. Like that of Woody Allen: “Not only does God not exist, but try to find a plumber on Sunday.” In these cases humor arises from the juxtaposition of two very different magnitudes, pretending to give more importance to the unimportant thing. But the lesson is serious.
Putting different values on the same level does a grave injury to the greatest. If the man in the example spoke seriously, he would be answered: “Are you crazy? Your brother-in-law dies and you think of Milan? ” Even the boiler and the cold would not be saved, the tragedy of cancer is so much greater. It should be so and yet this classification, this taxonomy of concerns, is not always respected. If the most illustrious philologist dies “La Sapienza” University of Rome, the news does not even mention it. If a colleague who works on the same television dies, i news broadcasts they speak of it as an irreparable loss.
And it is seen with the death of David Sassoli. He may be sorry for a relatively young man to die, just as he may be sorry for any other man of his age, and yet speak of him as if Europe asked himself: “And now how do I do it?” it’s ridiculous. But there is nothing to do: Sassoli also appeared in television, was a known face, and therefore his death requires a National mourning.
This upheaval also occurs in important and national fields. Following the television we learn that in Italy there are two problems: the first is the lesson of the new President of the Republic; the second la pandemic. While in reality ordinary people don’t care a thing about the former, and about the pandemic, the Italians are divided into two categories: i vaccinated, who do not care, because they are so sure not to die of it; ei not vaccinated who – perhaps before dying – are convinced that the Covid does not exist. Or in any case you don’t die of it. Their business.
The real problems are the ones that are not talked about. Or – at least – we don’t talk enough. The first is the public debt corresponding to 158% of the gross domestic product (158% of the wealth that Italy produces in a year), which until a few months ago was frightening. Such a fright that even a Brussels they said to each other: either Italy puts its head in order and saves itself, at the cost of increasing its already monstrous debt for a couple of years (unde il Pnrr), or it will sink, perhaps pulling itself with it the euro. For this we offer you a huge amount loan: if, by carrying out the reforms, he reverses the course of decadence, we will have saved Italy and Europe; if he can’t, the canvas will drop.
