The Russian armed forces launched from land and from the sea all kinds of projectiles, including the feared hypersonic
When the confrontation between Russia and the West is at a fever pitch due to the worsening of the situation in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a serious challenge on Saturday showing the strength of his nuclear potential. He did so in the company of his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, who acknowledged that he was considering the possibility of allowing Moscow to deploy atomic weapons on its territory as part of the “technical-military” measures with which Putin threatens the US and NATO. if they do not accept the “security guarantees” that it demands.
From the Barents Sea, the Karelia atomic submarine fired a Sineva intercontinental ballistic missile that hit its target at the Kura test site, north of the Kamchatka peninsula. In addition, ships of the Russian fleets of the Black Sea and the North managed to hit different targets located on land and sea with Kalibr cruise missiles and Tsirkon hypersonic missiles.
The Kapustin Yar base, in the Astrakhan region, east of Volgograd, was the scene of the launch of an ‘Iskander’ cruise rocket. The Kura range was also hit by an intercontinental ballistic missile ‘Yars’ launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, south of the city of Arkhangelsk.
From the air, fighter jets opened fire with ‘Kinzhal’ hypersonic rockets while Tu-95MS strategic bombers launched cruise missiles. All the weapons used in these exercises have the capacity to carry a nuclear payload.
The maneuvers, which had the official objective of “verifying the reliability of the nuclear forces”, were supervised by Putin from the control center of the Ministry of Defense, accompanied by Lukashenko, and both listened to the explanations of the generals of the military command.
Simultaneously, in other parts of the country, along the Ukrainian border, in Belarus and in various oceans, exercises are also taking place with the participation of most of the Russian military fleets and regions.
The press service of the Kremlin issued a note at the end of the day describing the shots fired yesterday with nuclear rockets as “successful”. “Under the command of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin, a planned exercise of the strategic deterrence forces has been carried out, during which ballistic and cruise missiles were launched (…) the tasks were completed in its entirety and all missiles hit their designated targets.
