Gradually the Draghi Government, with the data of the Covid pandemic at hand, is trying to narrow the fields of possible infections with some extra containment measures compared to vaccinations. The latest news concerns public transport, in particular buses, trams, metro and local trains: according to the measure, all those over 12 years old will have to show the negative result a molecular swab valid for 72 hours or an antigenic one that ensures coverage for 48 hours to get on the vehicles, unless the vaccine is carried out (which automatically generates the green pass).
Consequently, the pupils of the lower secondary school (the ‘middle’) and secondary school (the ‘upper’) must comply with this rule. With this system, among other things, it will be possible to trace further cases of Covid hidden among the younger sections of the population, to the benefit of those who are more exposed (ie the elderly who frequent them). According to Corriere della Sera, the measure “it could have a considerable impact on families with children still not vaccinated (40% of the school audience) while the others will immediately receive the super green pass. Hence the hypothesis of free tampons provided to the former by regional pharmacies and health facilities, as well as that of an exemption until the Christmas holidays. Still on the subject of transport, it was clarified that the controllers must check the green passes of the passengers on board as they are in charge of a public service, despite the resistance of the trade unions, requesting the intervention of the police if necessary“.
Meanwhile, while waiting for the Super Green Pass, the municipalities are preparing. According to Antonio Decaro, mayor of Bari and president of Anci, the association of over 8,000 Italian municipalities, there may be some problems for students. But he is also confident that he will find a solution. “We have reported a problem with the students to the government, but luckily there is still time to try together to figure out how to solve it. At the moment there is an unequal treatment: students who board school buses or use dedicated lines on Monday will not be subject to controls, while those who take the bus or the subway will have to show the green pass. I don’t know if behind the decision there is the desire to encourage more and more children to get vaccinated, but I still believe that this difference, with a little common sense, should be overcome. The important thing is to go ahead with the vaccines, get the third dose, I did it on Thursday. All the municipalities are mobilized, the hubs will reopen, we must not stop being careful: in January we will have the peak of infections, there are still many unvaccinated people around who risk ending up in hospital. Watch the rules», Decaro always told the Corriere.
