Mauro Carminati was an Italian engineer and worked at Lamborghini. Originally from Stezzano, in the province of Bergamo, he was traveling in Scotland. He was supposed to spend five days in Edinburgh. Unfortunately he never returned home.
He suddenly felt sick. He started complaining of a strange feeling of discomfort and, for this reason, he went to a doctor. He had one strange swelling in the leg, which turned black a few hours later. On April 26 in hospital they gave him the wrong treatment.
Scottish doctors were convinced he had a bacterial infection. For this reason they started treating him with drugs antibiotics. The young man’s health did not improve and on May 1st the family joined him in Scotland.
Shortly after his parents’ arrival, Mauro began to get worse. The fever rose suddenly, causing a cerebral hemorrhage which gave him no chance. The doctors realized that the infection was viral when there was nothing left that could be done for him.
