The PSOL and the PT should meet in Brasília this Wednesday, 9th, in an attempt to establish an electoral alliance. This will be the first meeting between the parties to start conversations to build a common platform around the candidacy of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to the Planalto in 2022.
“The unity we want to build among the left is based on a programmatic agreement that overcomes neoliberalism and the legacy of the 2016 coup. We want to go beyond electoral agreements. We are confident that the dialogue with the PT will be fruitful in this regard”, informed Juliano Medeiros, national president of the PSOL.
Among the PSOL proposals are the repeals of legislation on labor and social security reforms and the spending cap; tackling the climate crisis with measures to finance the energy transition; the proposition of a tax reform that reduces taxation on the consumption of essential and popular goods and focuses on taxation of income and property, including the creation of taxes for great fortunes.
