Culiacán, Sinaloa.- Given the expressions issued by the Mayor of CuliacanJesús Estrada Ferreiro, where he referred “that women encourage them to hurt them”the deputies of the Parliamentary Group of the PRI They point out that the mayor should not show disinterest or ignorance since he governs the municipality that ranks second in femicides at the national level.
The deputies Gloria Himelda Félix Niebla, Connie Zazueta Castro, Deisy Judith Ayala Valenzuela and Cinthia Valenzuela Langarica, indicated that as an authority it is obliged to safeguard the safety of its inhabitants and prioritize gender violence since it is part of an instance that must observe the provisions of the gender alert decreed since 2017 for the municipality of Culiacán, and that despite efforts, no positive progress has been made.
“Unfortunate that it is he himself who violates the norms he is obliged to protect,” said Félix Niebla.
The legislator explained that, in Culiacán, during the first three years of the government of AMLO, sexual crimes have increased more than 50% compared to the last three years of Enrique Peña Nieto’s.
The same has happened in 7 other municipalities of Sinaloa: El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Salvador Alvarado, Badiraguato, San Ignacio, Elota and Cosalá. While in the remaining 9 the increase was slight and in Escuinapa it remained constant, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

Therefore, the Parliamentary Group calls for joint efforts from the three levels to implement monitoring mechanisms, create public policies and provide budget tools to reduce rates of family violence and aggression against women.
