Nike’s new high-visibility balloon inspired by comics made its Premier League debut yesterday in the match between Southampton and Aston Villa, which will be used throughout the winter on English courts. The inspiration for the new design of the ball, to the American multinational came from Pop Art at the beginning of the century, and in particular comes from the world of comics and superheroes, which in this case are the players “superheroes both on and off the pitch», Reads a note from Nike.
The balloon features graphics in shades of yellow, blue, crimson and white. The aesthetic, as mentioned, is that of Pop Art and therefore we find typical details of this style, such as the coloring in dots, the outlines of the drawings in marked black and the writings above it in a comic font. The technology used for its realization is the same used for the ball presented in June, namely the Nike Aereowsculpt. This and the 3D printed ink allow 30% more flight than balls made with previous technologies and also improve contact with the boot. ACC (All Condition Control) technology also adds a grippy texture for a consistent touch in both dry and wet conditions.
