Children’s classics are reinvented! We recently saw Netflix’s remake of “Teletubbies” announce major changes to its cast, in the interest of greater diversity for the next generation of fans. Now the famous Pocoyo has undergone a radical transformation: he has grown up, and his adolescent version is called muchyo. With this, he abandons his colorful appearance and becomes a young man in black and white.
Of course, the change does not come by chance, but it brings with it a message of revolution, exposed through a rap video clip called “Childhood has a voice.” The stanzas portray a forceful letter: boys and girls deserve to be heard.
A project with clear intentions
The audiovisual material was produced by The Children’s Revolutionan alliance of SOS Children’s Villages, Plan International, Save the Children, Educo, World Vision and UNICEF Spain.
The intentions of the project are explained in the project description. “The voice of many boys and girls in the world is dying out sooner and later. The lack of rights forces them to grow too fast. Poverty, war, hunger, disease, and hate are turning them off, just when the world needs them most,” reads part of the description.
Thus, it is revealed that muchyo It was born as an initiative in defense of children’s rights, whose central message is: “Childhood has a voice, and calls for revolution”.
In that sense, if you want to support the cause, you can buy the “I am a lot” t-shirts. The funds collected will be allocated to child care programs promoted by the aforementioned organizations. Watch the full video clip below:
