According to the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, tourism revenues for the first eight months of this year increased by 7 percent to about 7.8 billion dollars, and the tourism sector in Morocco recorded record levels in the period from January to August, as the Kingdom received during this period about 11.8 million tourists, including 4.4 million tourists. One million tourists visited the Kingdom in July and August, which represents an increase of 21 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Minister of Tourism Fatima Zahraa Ammor said that these numbers “confirm the great momentum that the tourism sector is witnessing.” She added, “The country achieved a record high in revenues thanks to an exceptional influx of tourists, as their number reached 11.8 million tourists between January and August.”
The minister highlighted her country’s aspiration to “continue success by diversifying and improving tourism experiences, which enhances visitors’ experience and extends their stay.”
Tourism is considered the second source of foreign exchange in Morocco during the past year after remittances from expatriates, after the sector’s revenues exceeded $10 billion last year.
