Guido Mantega left the group on Thursday, saying that opponents disrupted his work with the elected government
Economist and former president of the Perseu Foundation Abramo Márcio Pochmann was appointed to join the Transition Planning, Budget and Management group. His name was published in an extra edition of Official Diary of the Union from Thursday (17.Nov.2022). Here’s the full of the concierge (43 KB).
The departure of former finance minister Guido Mantega from the group was also made official at the official diary🇧🇷 On Thursday (Nov. 17), he sent a letter to the vice-president-elect, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), with the request to leave the transition team.
Mantega stated that opponents would have the “interest in disrupting the transition” and “create difficulties for the new management🇧🇷
But, as found by the Power360, his interference in absentia in the election for the command of the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) weighed more on his departure. His removal information was revealed by the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo and confirmed by Power360🇧🇷
Pochmann was president of the Perseu Abramo Foundation, linked to the PT, from 2012 to 2020. Previously, he had been president of Ipea (Institute for Applied Economic Research) between 2007 and 2012.
The economist has been a professor at Unicamp (State University of Campinas) since 1989 and is the author of books on economics, development and public policy.
In addition to Pochmann, Élvio Lima Gaspar, master in urban planning, and Márcio Gimene, planning and budget analyst, were also appointed to the planning group.
They add up to:
- Enio Verrifederal deputy (PT-PR);
- Esther Dwek, economist and professor at UFRJ;
- Antonio Corrêa de Lacerda, President of the Federal Economic Council.
