The company Pageswhich manages the bullring of the Maestranza of Seville, has led the courts to OneToro after the television platform agreed not to broadcast the San Miguel Fair, alleging economic losses that “exceed twelve million euros,” according to said company.
This decision by OneToro, which was announced a few days before the bullfights were held, left Sevillian fans subscribed to said platform without being able to see the three celebrations scheduled by Pagés for the San Miguel Fair. He also resigned from the Madrid Autumn cycle.
But it also caused economic damage to the Maestranza management company, which has decided to file a lawsuit. ordinary trial demand for a claim for an amount important corresponding to the retransmission of said batch of bullfights held last September.
In February 2023 OneToro, LLC. and Sevilla Pagés signed a contract for the broadcast of all the bullfighting festivities that it organized in the Maestranza of Seville. Said agreement was valid for three years, that is, until 2025. The first season was developed without any impact on compliance with the provisions of said contractual document.
The year 2024 passed along the same paths until San Miguel arrived. The past September 24 OneToro informed the Pagés company that it would not broadcast the bullfights, a decision made unilaterally by the television company.
Pagés, through request to the production company, he requested compliance with the contract on time and payment of what was agreed between both parties. However, this request was not fruitful and OneToro did not respond to the requests of the management company of the Plaza de la Maestranza.
Given this situation, as ABC has learned, on October 16, Sevilla Pagés filed a lawsuit, of which the Court of First Instance number 27 of the capital, through an ordinary lawsuit to claim a significant amount, which would correspond to the broadcast of the three San Miguel celebrations that were left without cameras.
Now it will be up to the head of the judicial body to notify the defendant of the judicial procedure initiated due to breaches of contract in which Pagés understands that OneToro has incurred after a unilateral decision.
