Understand the case
Rio de Janeiro councilor César Maia (PSD), former mayor of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, was caught in an unusual scene on the afternoon of this Wednesday, 5th, during a session of the Rio City Council. Maia, who participated remotely in the discussing a bill, he forgot the virtual call camera was on and was filmed sitting on a toilet inside a bathroom.
Upon realizing that he was being filmed, the councilor, who is the father of former Mayor Rodrigo Maia, moves the device he used for the call closer so that only his face appears to his colleagues in the plenary.
Councilor Pablo Mello (Republicans), who was presiding over the session, asked Maia to turn off the camera and, soon after, he was unable to hold back his laughter at the scene.
“Councilman César Maia, I ask you to turn off the camera, please”, asked Mello.
Maia turned off the camera and simply replied: “perfectly”.
The councilors were discussing the approval of a law authored by councilor Marcelo Arar (Agir), which declares Mirante da Rocinha as a cultural heritage of a material nature in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
