Strike details
US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces succeeded in carrying out 4 self-defense strikes against 7 mobile anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCM), three mobile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and one explosive.
An unmanned surface vessel (USV) was also struck in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, which was prepared to be launched against ships in the Red Sea.
US Central Command identified these mobile missiles, drones, and marine vehicles in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, and decided that they represented an imminent threat to US Navy ships and commercial ships in the region.
She said that these measures will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer for the US Navy and commercial ships.
A few days ago, the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) announced that more than 100 missiles and launchers were destroyed in strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said in a press conference that the strikes on the Iran-backed Houthis, which began in January, “destroyed more than 100 missiles and launchers.”
He added: “Since the first international coalition strikes on January 11, we have destroyed more than 100 missiles and launchers, in addition to many drones, radars and weapons storage areas.”
He continued that the strikes that took place on February 3 “destroyed or seriously damaged 35 targets out of 36, including weapons storage places, radars, 3 helicopters, command and control centers, and missile systems.”
He stated that the US Central Command (Centcom) “continues to evaluate the results of previous strikes in Iraq and Syria on February 2, but initial indicators indicate that more than 40 militants linked to pro-Iranian groups were killed or wounded in the US strikes that targeted 7 facilities, which included more than 85 goals.
