The Omani Heritage Week activities were launched at the Cultural Heritage Events Center (Western House) in the heart of Sharjah.
The events were opened yesterday by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, President of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, in the presence of Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, Advisor in the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Rashid Khamis Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Khor Fakkan, and Ali Abdullah Al Rumaithi, Executive Director of Services and Support at the Emirates Heritage Club, in addition to a high-level number of representatives. The “Heart of Sharjah” will celebrate artistic performances, dances, music, folk songs, traditional crafts, and evenings, in addition to a display of a group of traditional foods and a number of activities, products, and traditional displays. The week will receive visitors for 5 days in the evening period from 5 to 10 pm, and the activities will continue until November 27th. .
Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam said: “Through our organization of the annual World Heritage Weeks, we emphasize the commonality of human heritage among all peoples, nations and civilizations, and the exchange of knowledge, information, expertise and experiences related to the importance of preserving and preserving heritage and transmitting it to generations, enriching cultural communication between peoples, reviving heritage areas in the Emirate of Sharjah, and developing concepts. Heritage and cultural heritage, introducing the cultures of the peoples of the world, and introducing global cultural heritage and its openness to international experiences in this field.”
He added that the Omani heritage is an important tributary for transmitting the history of fathers and grandfathers to the current generation and introducing them to the nobility, authenticity and diversity this heritage carries, and its close connection to the values of the Omani people and their attachment to the elements of the place with the events and changes it has witnessed, in addition to their role full of diligence and perseverance with the aim of meeting their needs and developing their lives through industries. Crafts, and expressing their joy through distinctive folk and traditional arts, deserve our appreciation and celebration through these joyful heritage weeks.
For her part, Aisha Ghabish, Director of the Department of Events and Activities at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and General Coordinator of the World Heritage Weeks, explained that the audience and visitors of the center and heritage lovers will be on a date during the Omani Heritage Week to attend many programs, activities, and various Omani heritage programs, as it intersects greatly with our local heritage. And the Gulf in general by learning about some of the Omani heritage crafts, such as the manufacture of textiles, pottery, silverware, and handlooms, in addition to the manufacture of incense and perfumes, the profession of purifying Omani frankincense and its derivatives, the profession of folk medicine, the engraving of traditional designs, children’s clothing, and the craft of sewing traditional Omani clothes and gypsum and wooden figures.
The week’s activities include the presentation of an intellectual program at the headquarters of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage on November 27, where a poet will be hosted in the art of the field and the art of Al-Taghrouda, Al-Wuna and Al-Tariq, in addition to folklore performances of Omani heritage presented by Al-Ain Ensemble for the art of Al-Ayyala and Al-Razif Al-Hamasi, Al-Taybeh Folklore Ensemble, and Al-Rustaq Castle Ensemble for the art of Al-Razha and Al-Azi. In addition to providing Omani hospitality, preparing coffee, traditional food, Omani sweets, and more.
