Special weekend for Rins
This weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone will have double value for Alex Rins: it will not only be the Spaniard’s return to the track after the injury he suffered in Assen which forced him to miss the last German Grand Prix, but also the first appointment after the two-year contract renewal signed with Yamaha.
In Iwata until 2026
The Japanese team has in fact announced the agreement reached with the 28-year-old, who will thus continue his experience in MotoGP with Yamaha until 2026: “I am very happy to continue working with Yamaha for another two years and I want to thank the team and the management in Iwata for the trust they have placed in me. – Rins declared – we have a clear objective: to bring Yamaha where it belongs, which is to fight for championships. From the first minute, I saw Yamaha’s desire to improve and to deploy all the resources to achieve this goal. As a result, and thanks to our work, this season we have made important steps in this direction and we want to continue like this in the following years. I am happy to continue to bring my MotoGP experience and my work ethic to a team that has shown that it pushes hard and will continue to do so”.
Two more years with Quartararo
The statements of the Iberian rider, winner of six races in his career in the premier class, were added to those of Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamahawho will also leave the team at the end of this season after a long experience: “We are pleased to announce that Álex Rins will continue to be an official Yamaha rider for another two years. – commented the British manager – we have clearly stated that we have a strong desire and intention to return to the top of the MotoGP championship. To achieve this goal, we have already hired new staff, modified our internal organizational structures and expanded our external technical partnerships. We have also committed to expand our presence in 2025 with a Second Independent Factory Team and now it’s time to make sure we have the riders we want to get the results we, and they, want. Signing Álex for another two years is an important part of our plan for the MotoGP project. Álex is not only a very talented and fast rider, but he is also a technical expert, a hard worker and a true team player. The collaboration between Álex and Fabio Quartararo gives Yamaha the certainty that together we can strengthen the development project of the bike. Now that the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider lineup for 2025-26 has been establishedwe look forward to tackling the next 11 races of the 2024 season with Álex and Fabio, fully focused on the task at hand”.
