Three Germans make it into the final squad
Dusseldorf In the NFL, the annual roster cuts were scheduled for Tuesday, with teams having to reduce their rosters to 53 players. Three Germans made it into their respective teams, three more were released. But there is still a back door.
As expected, football pro Amon-Ra St. Brown survived the last roster cut in the NFL, his brother Equanimeous and Jakob Johnson also came through a good week before the start of the season.
After a strong rookie season with six touchdowns, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown got renewed confidence with the Detroit Lions. Equanimeous, who plays in the same position, is also part of the roster after moving from the Green Bay Packers to the Chicago Bears. Fullback Johnson, who is new to the Las Vegas Raiders, also made it.
On the other hand, defensive tackle David Bada was eliminated for the Washington Commanders. The Seattle Seahawks previously parted ways with linebacker Aaron Donkor. Cornerback Marcel Dabo has been eliminated from the Indianapolis Colts. Dabo, like Bada and Donkor before him, came to the NFL club through the so-called International Player Pathway Program (IPP) for non-American talent.
For the three released players, however, this does not mean the end of the NFL career: The other 31 teams can add them to their squads in a fixed order until Wednesday, 6 p.m. German time. If that doesn’t happen, they are then free agents and can sign for any team – even the one that fired them – for example in the training squad. Players from the Practice Squad may only practice and not be used in games. However, there is always the possibility of being promoted to the 53 squad if a place becomes available there.
