Rospotrebnadzor reported two cases of infection with the XEC variant of COVID-19 in Russia
Two cases of the XEC variant of coronavirus have been identified in Russia so far. This was reported to Lenta.ru by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
One case of the new variant of COVID-19 was detected in the Rostov region, the second in Ufa. Symptoms of the new strain include headache, fatigue, runny nose, cough, loss of appetite and smell, sore throat, and fever.
“XEC is most common in France, where it accounts for about 21 percent of sequenced samples. It is also gaining momentum in Germany and the UK, where it accounts for 15 and 8 percent of sequenced samples, respectively,” Rospotrebnadzor emphasized.

To protect against diseases, the service advised using personal protective equipment, washing hands, ventilating rooms, and avoiding contact with infected people.
Earlier, the head of the laboratory of especially dangerous infections at the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine, Alexander Chepurnov, in a conversation with Lenta.ru, said that the coronavirus has changed a lot since the beginning of the pandemic.
