An archive photo of a long queue to get into a taxi interested the Russians. A picture from the 60s posted in Facebook-group “About Moscow and Muscovites (About you and me)”.
The historical frame shows that more than 30 people lined up behind a taxi car parked near the Belorussky railway station. The comments noted that this indicates the popularity of driver services among Soviet citizens. Some attributed this to affordability. “We, as students, allowed ourselves to drive around Moscow in the evening, along Leningradsky Prospekt”, “This line is for 15 minutes, cars one by one, and 2-4 people sat down,” users recalled.
There were those who remembered the disadvantages of the Soviet taxi fleet. “This suggests that there were few taxis. And drivers have not yet traveled to every district of Moscow. And very many could not afford this type of transport, ”the subscriber commented on the picture. Someone added that times have changed a lot, and now taxi rides have become more comfortable.
Earlier, the granddaughter of the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, the sculptor Elizaveta Lavinskaya, was outraged by the prices for a Moscow taxi.
