About six years after the death of her husband, the legendary Italian director and screenwriter Ettore Scola, his wife, too, is gone forever. Gigliola Fantoni. The woman, also a director, screenwriter and author, died at the age of 93 in her house in Rome, surrounded by the affection of her loved ones, primarily that of her two daughters Silvia and Paola.
Six and a half years have passed since the death of Ettore Scola. The immense director and screenwriter left on the evening of January 19th of 2016while he was hospitalized at the Roman Polyclinic.
The funeral of the legend of Italian and international cinema was celebrated a few days later at the house of cinema in Rome, in the presence of many people. People who, on that occasion, admired the words of what was Scola’s life partner.
Fantoni took the opportunity to invite everyone to celebrate life of Ettore, rather than mourning his death, just as he would have liked and thought.
Six and a half years later, Gigliola Scola Fantoni joined her husband. She did it serenely, at the age of 93 years oldwhile he was in his house in via Mercalli in Rome.
At his side, until the end, the two beloved daughters he had with Ettore Scola, Silvia and Paolawho are now 60 and 65 years old respectively.
Sources close to the family stated that i funeral will be held in the coming days and in private formas per the specific will of Gigliola herself.

In addition to being Ettore Scola’s wife, Gigliola Fantoni will also be remembered for being one herself director, screenwriter and author of excellent value.
On several occasions he had stated that he always preferred it to be remembered for her workrather than to be “the wife of”.

She is the author and teacher endowed with inexhaustible vitality and at the same time far from any protagonism, she has been alongside Ettore and her daughters Silvia and Paola who in turn have been by her side. We will miss her very much. In remembering her with great affection, we are close to her whole family, from her daughters, our dear friends and colleagues, to her grandchildren whom she loved so much about her.
