Vice President Hamilton Mourão (Republicans) wished “luck” to Colombia’s first left-wing president, Gustavo Petro, elected this Sunday (19). “Lucky for Gustavo Petro, because managing a country in the situation the world is facing is not simple. The relationship is from state to state, independent of the government,” Mourão told reporters this Monday (20).
The vice president also mentioned that Colombia has interests in common with Brazil, such as the Amazon. Petro, who in his youth served in the M-19 guerrilla group, was elected with more than 11.2 million votes. President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has not yet officially congratulated Petro on the victory.
