MotoGP Misano, the test report
Francis Bagnaia achieved the best time in the last official tests of the 2024 MotoGP season (the post-season tests are theoretically the first scheduled event of the 2025 World Championship). The reigning world champion, in Misano, achieved a time of 1:30.619, 161 thousandths faster than Franco Morbidelliwho confirmed his progress on the Ducati of the Pramac team. Third place for Enea Bastianini366 thousandths behind his teammate.
As much data as possible was collected regarding the chassis and aerodynamics of “Pecco”’s GP24, which is valuable for 2025. Like the other manufacturers, Ducati was able to test the new front tyre, promoted by #1. Also in the top 5 were Pedro Acosta and Fabio Quartararo, while Jorge Martin He finished in sixth place, half a second behind his rival and 19 thousandths ahead of Marc MarquezThe two Spaniards finished the tests without trying any new items (Ducati only brought them for the official team). Bezzecchi, Viñales and Binder also made the top 10.
The tests were important in the short term especially for Yamaha and Honda, who were able to try out the changes already during the season: Luca Marini, returning after the physical problems that prevented him from participating in yesterday’s GP, likes Honda’s Ducati-inspired aerodynamic innovations so much that he wants them for the second weekend at Misano.
It was also an important day for the MotoGP of the future, as tests were carried out on radio communications: Aleix Espargaró and Fabio Quartararo offered positive feedback on this innovation that could debut as early as 2025.
