I have always thought that the novel – for me – is the most capable tool for ensuring the luster that keeps life fun. Certainly, there are other containers produced by mankind that provided human enjoyment, such as films and paintings, but only a good novel, with its intellectual and linguistic repertoire, meets the reader’s awareness and imagination, It is the only tool capable of achieving astonishment that is renewed with each different reading. In the novel, it is astonishment that does not extinguish, as it has the ability to dazzle at all moments, until it turns into a truly fulfilled lifestyle.
In my opinion, surprise is another name for the literary value of any written work. What the creator places in what he writes in his language of ideas, images and visions about issues he chooses to be the focus of his work, whether they are personal, national or even humanitarian issues, how do we read all of that, and what remains in us after each reading Astonishment, is what deserves to be called a literary value, and since we are different, the way we feel these literary values varies from person to person in its size, experience, sensitivity and impact, which justifies our differences in evaluating many literary works.
The astonishment that is achieved from written literature has an eloquent sensory effect that begins by tickling curiosity and releasing gluttony, so the prey feed on, to find yourself having seen, heard, smelled, tasted and touched, works that make all this with you.. It surprises you, and surprises you to a degree that you may then think that there is a new sense created in you, A sense that makes you re-evaluate your previous senses to be surprised that they are no longer the same as they were before you read, but have changed, and become another person, more sensitive, and perhaps a more beautiful and more human person.
