I do not intend to spare, much less deny, the merit of great social idols to whom nature endowed special abilities to handle a ball or to interpret a piece of music. They are an example worth emulating.
The death of the great soccer player called “King Pelé” has shaken, not only the sports world, but also society in general.
And it’s very fair his merits are abundant, but it would be more fair if people who dedicate their entire lives to serving, Those that go unnoticed, including their death, are often ignored even by those who once received the benefits of their efforts.
How difficult it is to understand humanity, working world. It is impossible to assimilate that a soccer player or an actor can earn in a year what ten teachers, nurses, doctors or another profession of service earn in a lifetime dedicated to others.
And as Héctor Suárez said What’s happening to us? Where are we headed with this reversal of values?
Know professionals from the educational or health sectors, who gave more than half a century of their lives, some in the highlands of the mountains, educating children or caring for the health of marginalized people and they never deserved a decent salary, much less recognition while athletes who earned millions and can live like kings, are highly honored thanks to the fact that due to their physical abilities they managed to penetrate the spirit of the community.
It is not a matter of skimping on the recognition of honest and worthy people from the sports or artistic world, but of finding balance mechanisms that allow greater equity and justice for people who serve, perhaps more, but who are far from the spotlight.
A reasonable nation must find the paths that lead us to reassess the roles that life assigns us as human beings, to rediscover a fairer scale of values.
Having our eyes and mind open to the merit of those around us, could bring us closer to the justice that we demand, but that we do not always grant.
It’s time.
For a dignified and united Mexico, let’s make a pact.
Thanks.
