Folder exists today in a broader configuration: Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights
Former president and presidential candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) spoke this Thursday (18.Aug.2022) in “rebuild” the Ministry of Women. Today, the folder exists, but in a broader configuration: Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights.
“We are going to rebuild the Women’s Ministry”said the PT member at a rally in Belo Horizonte (MG).
This is not the first time that Lula has indicated that he will change the format of the Esplanada dos Ministérios if he is elected again.
On Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2022), in conversation with small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, the PT indicated that in a possible new government there will be a ministry focused on small and medium-sized companies.
In July, he signaled the return of the Planning and Finance ministries, if elected. Today, the areas are part of the Ministry of Economy, commanded by Paulo Guedes.
In May, PT spoke of recreating the ministries of Culture and Racial Equality. The portfolio aimed at indigenous peoples was announced earlier, in April.
The rally was the 1st after the opening of the official campaign period.
Lula was accompanied by allies in the state, such as the candidate for governor of Minas Gerais Alexandre Kalil (PSD), the candidate for senator Alexandre Silveira (PSD), the candidate for lieutenant governor André Quintão (PT), the PT leader in the Chamber Reginaldo Lopes and the deputy André Janones (Forward), both candidates for re-election.
Also present were the vice president of Lula’s ticket, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), the president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmannthe president of the Perseu Abramo Foundation, Aloizio Mercadante (EN), and the senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Network).
Minas Gerais has the 2nd largest electorate in the country, with 16.3 million members.
Lula & Evangelicals
The PT candidate for the Presidency of the Republic also criticized the religious discourse of Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Lula suggested that part of the electorate is manipulated by these lines. Here is the PT statement:
“We want to see people hugging each other, people helping each other. People, even, not being used religiously as they are today, a part of the Brazilian people, by someone talking about God and committing sin. Because it is heresy to speak the name of God in vain as does this citizen that I am saying that I do not want to mention his name.”
Lula also once again called his opponent “Pharisee”. This is a religious group that, in the Bible, is accused of hypocrisy and falsehood.
“This citizen [Bolsonaro] is more like a Pharisee than a Christian.”declared.
Bolsonaro had massive support from the evangelical electorate in 2018. Research PowerDate released on August 17, shows the current president with 52% of voting intentions for the 1st round in this group, against 31% for Lula.
In the general electorate, the PT has 44% against 37% for Bolsonaro. Read more about the search PowerDate at the end of this text.
