The results that arrived from the market for Rimac Nevera they were anything but exciting. What is considered to all intents and purposes to be the first 100% electric hypercar that the Croatian brand unveiled in 2021 was produced limited to 150 units, but to date not all of them have yet been sold: the model conceived as the 1,888 HP evolution of the prototype C_Two did not particularly convince the public, and according to CEO Mate Rimac the poor performance of the car is to be associated with a general decline in demand for high-end electric cars.
The difficulties of Rimac Nevera
“We started developing the Nevera in 2016-2017, when electric was a trend – Rimac’s words spoken on the occasion of the Financial Times Future of the Car in London and reported by Autocar – The market has evolved since then, with tastes changing as lawmakers and major automakers continued to try to make electric cars mainstream. Regulators and some manufacturers push so hard that the narrative has changed. Things are imposed on us that we don’t want, and it’s normal for people to feel a bit repelled by them, all this forced application doesn’t help. I’m always against these things, I think that everything should be based on merit and therefore the product must be the best.”
Return to ICE technology?
What does this mean? Who in all likelihood will be a possible replacement for Rimac Nevera it won’t be a fully electric hypercar. “At the time we thought that electric cars would become a trend in a few years: the best cars, or the highest performance and so on. But we notice now that as electrification becomes mainstream, people at the higher end of the segment want to differentiate themselves – concluded the CEO of Rimac – In any case, we have a certain market for the Nevera, ed it is the best-selling electric hypercar. We have already delivered more than 50 cars out of a total of 150″.
