The former Betis player is suspected of being the beneficiary of two transfers for 6,500 euros for having received yellow cards when playing in Spain
The matter is not yet closed. Luiz Henriquecurrent striker for Botafogo and the Brazilian national team and former Betis player, has been summoned to testify in a parliamentary investigation commission on illegal betting. The Brazilian senators who are part of the commission also included Bruno Henrique, Flamengo winger, in the summons to appear during interrogations in the open investigation into suspicions of manipulating results on the field.
The former green and white soccer player must testify before the legislative body on a date that has not yet been specified after a request from the president of the investigation commission, a senator from the South American country, was approved. The attacker is suspected of being the beneficiary of two transfers worth 40,000 reais (at the exchange rate, 6,550 euros), made at the beginning of 2023, by having received yellow cards when playing for the Betic club. According to the Brazilian authorities, the transfers being analyzed were carried out by relatives of Lucas Paquetá, West Ham playmaker, who is also being investigated in England for match-fixing during specific actions.
The commission also approved requesting the lifting of the banking, telephone and telematic secrecy of Bruno Tolentino, Paquetá’s uncle involved in the case and who decided not to testify last month in his appearance before the commission. Bruno Henrique, for his part, was summoned after the former German Wolfsburg footballer was the subject of a police operation a few days ago on suspicion of having caused a yellow card with the aim of enriching his family through sports betting. This forward is now one of the leaders of Flamengo, which last Sunday was proclaimed champion of the Brazilian Cup.
