The senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) reported, in a statement on Tuesday (May 14, 2024), that it had presented the PL (bill) 1,800 from 2024which establishes a moratorium on federal, state and municipal taxes and private law obligations in municipalities affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
The congressman stated that the measure aims to postpone the collection of overdue taxes and private obligations by 180 days, bringing relief to the people of Rio Grande do Sul.
“This urgent bill of mine is not just an economic measure, but rather an act of obligatory solidarity on our part, and of justice. So, we need to share the losses and provide breathing space so that this population can then get back on its feet.”he said.

The senator also claimed to have collected donations that will come from Portugal and the United States.
According to Kajuru, Brazilian and foreign businesspeople and volunteers are very concerned about the situation in Rio Grande do Sul and have taken several measures to help the population of Rio Grande do Sul.
