The Ukrainians who took the town dismantled a nerve center of Moscow operations
The Ukrainians have seized a huge amount of war material in their raid on Kharkov. It is boasted about by the Kiev media, showing how troops train to adapt to its use and use it against the Russians. The abandonment of equipment, perceptible in places like Izium, where Moscow had installed a command center and an armored resupply base, is seen in Russia as the greatest humiliation suffered since the beginning of the invasion.
Russian crews left behind perfectly good battle tanks, fuel tankers, trucks and other military vehicles to save their lives. Certain that the armored vehicles were an easy target for the Ukrainian drones, the soldiers fled on foot, in private cars or even on bicycles, many of them disguised as civilians.
President Volodymyr Zelensky visited this town on Wednesday and participated in the raising of the Ukrainian flag. He could see, scattered, several armored vehicles destroyed during the counteroffensive, but also dozens of intact or minorly damaged T-80BV and T-80U main battle tanks. In a school, the invaders set up a defense post where weapons and a huge amount of ammunition have been discovered. A few meters away, in the basement of a factory, the Russians had set up a bunker and a bedroom as an operations center, conveniently fortified with trenches, sacks, machine guns and defensive bastions. Uniforms, notebooks, food cans, maps, and even an old analog rotary telephone were scattered everywhere. kyiv considers that the destruction of this operations center made it possible to cut off cover and put out of action other units on the Donbas front line who no longer knew what decisions to make.

The UN Secretary General, António Guterres, showed on Wednesday his pessimism regarding a negotiated and rapid end to the conflict after having a telephone conversation with the Russian president. The same impression has the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, who after another communication by telephone indicated that Putin does not consider the invasion to be a “mistake”. In the last few hours, it has transpired that the head of the Kremlin was able to reject a peace agreement agreed between a delegation from his government and another from kyiv hours after the war began. According to the Reuters agency, Ukraine would have guaranteed that it would not ask to join NATO, but Putin ordered the occupation to continue.
