MotoGP Austin, the news of the Grand Prix
Frankly, it's difficult to ask for more than that: for over half the race the Austin Grand Prix was the ultimate. The Liberty Media era in MotoGP begins with a beautiful race, made up of fiery duels, tight ends and very long battles. He's always right, Maverick Viñales, which seals the perfect weekend: pole position, victory in the Sprint and first place in the Grand Prix. What a race for the Spaniard, who started very well but fell victim to Jorge Martin's entry over the top at the first corner. The Aprilia rider fell to 11th place, but from then on he put in one qualifying lap after another, also thanks to the right choice of the rear media: position after position, he swallowed up the group, including Bagnaia and Martin. The hardest obstacle is Pedro Acostabut even the baby phenomenon has to bow his head with seven laps to go in turn 11.
Acosta is on the podium again, and this time it's a second place. His race was once again amazing: this boy doesn't look at anyone, he combines courage and reflection, anger at the entrance to the curve and clarity at the crossing stage. He resists everyone, except Viñales and Marc Marquez, who surprises him in turn-1 halfway through the race. Then, however, the Cabroncito he lays down in turn 11 and says goodbye to his eighth success at COTA.
Once Viñales overtook Acosta, the race dropped in intensity, but Enea Bastianini and Jorge Martin still put on a show, with their Beast that claws at the podium. Martinator he is fourth ahead of a dull Bagnaia: The trio of favorites – made up of Pecco, Martin and Marquez – are the real losers of this fantastic rodeo. Still in the top 10 are the two VR46s (Fabio Di Giannantonio sixth and Marco Bezzecchi eighth), Aleix Espargaró (seventh), Brad Binder and Raul Fernandez. Precisely the anonymous race of Espargaró and that of Binder (whose comeback was favored by numerous retirements) give the measure of Viñales and Acosta's Sunday.
Back Fabio Quartararo, 12th. The Hondas are still disheartening: only Luca Marini reaches the finish line, unable to score even with six retirements and the fall of Alex Marquez, who gets up and overtakes him.
