WP: Vladimir Zelensky agreed to resign or leave Kyiv in February
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to resign in February if it would help end the fighting. About it informs Washington Post (WP), citing the words of the Ukrainian leader and Western officials.
“I’m not trying to hold on to power. If the only question is for me to leave and that will stop the bloodshed, then I’m all for it. I’ll leave right now. This is not why I entered politics, and I will leave when you say if it will stop the war,” Zelenskiy told Western officials.

Zelensky has also received appeals from U.S. and European officials about the need to preserve the “continuity of power,” in some cases offering to help him leave the capital. Western officials believed that by securing his own security, the Ukrainian president could prevent a power vacuum.
“Of all those who called me, there was no one who believed that we would hold out,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
According to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Western countries did not supply weapons to Kyiv, as they expected to see if the Ukrainians could “defend the country.”
Earlier, Zelensky, during his speech at the Crimean Platform international summit, promised to return Crimea by any means and without consultations with partner countries. The Ukrainian leader also pointed out that every day Kyiv needs more Western weapons to confront Russia than the amount that was previously provided. According to Zelensky, Ukraine is not ready for a ceasefire and will not stabilize the situation in the conflict zone.
