The pension ceiling of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), in 2022, rose from R$ 6,433.57 to R$ 7,087.22, after an adjustment of 10.16%, based on the National Consumer Price Index (INPC). ). Value is the desire of many Brazilians, but achieving it is practically impossible, say social security lawyers.
The Pension Reform, in 2019, changed the Calculation Base Period (PBC), which corresponds to the total contribution period. With the new rules, the PBC is calculated on top of the average contributions since July 1994. Beneficiaries who have contributed their entire lives through the ceiling receive an average ceiling.
“To be able to retire with value close to the ceiling, all contributions must be paid based on the annual amount of the INSS ceiling”, explains lawyer Paulicléia Tenório, from Tenório Advogados.

In addition, according to the lawyer, the taxpayer would have to have at least 40 years of contribution with high amounts and, even so, this average is still difficult to achieve.
The INSS account considers 60% of the average of all salaries + 2% extra contribution per year for those who are over 20 years old, in the case of men, and 15 years old, in the case of women. To receive 100% of their average salary, men must contribute for 40 years. In the case of women, it is necessary to pay the INSS for 35 years.
The amount to be collected monthly depends on the type of contributor and the contribution salary. For mandatory contributors, who have some type of employment relationship, the discount is automatically made based on monthly remuneration. If you receive a salary equal to or above the INSS ceiling, you will be contributing towards the ceiling.
