The eruption of the Ruang volcano in the northern part of the island of Sulawesi started already on Wednesday, and the mountain has since erupted five times. The authorities have raised the threat level of the four-step alarm system to its highest level.

The authorities are urgently trying to evacuate around 11,000 people from around the volcano.
