Indignation and anger at Bayern Munich over a disallowed goal in the Champions League: ‘It’s an absolute disaster’

The Polish referee Szymon Marciniak did not concede a goal in stoppage time to the Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt that would have made the score 2-2, having whistled, after one of his assistants raised the flag, a prior offside by the Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui, without letting the play continue until the end.

In the replay, neither Mazraoui nor De Ligt appear to be offside, as the white defender invalidates it Antonio Rüdiger.

“This decision is an absolute disaster. The play must be allowed to continue until the end. It is the rule, even more so when it is a goal play and it is at the limit. The first error is the linesman’s mistake, the second is the referee’s” , declared Tuchel.

“I find the final scene incredible. I can’t understand why he didn’t let the action continue. He asked for forgiveness,” the German coach insisted.

“I wouldn’t want to say that Real Madrid is always lucky, but today was what made the difference,” he said. De Ligt in an ironic way about arbitration.

“He himself knows that he made a mistake,” said German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. “The situation has been very strange. I am unable to say what has happened, but this often happens to Real Madrid. It has already happened to us here,” said veteran forward Thomas Müller.

Regarding the tie, Tuchel admitted: “It hurts and it will take us a while to recover, but on the one hand it is a defeat in which we left everything on the field (…) But on the other, there were too many injuries, too many substitutions, too many cramps. We started with four forwards and in the end they were all off the field.

“And then Manu (Neuer), who had been exceptional saving us all night, made a mistake that he would not make for another 100 years,” he added, referring to the goalkeeper’s mistake that made the white team’s tying goal possible.
