The official club competitions are coming to an end, and that means that summer is approaching, and, with it, Euro 2024. On June 14, this exciting tournament will begin that will pit the best teams in Europe and which will decide who wins, after a month of competition, with the European champion trophy, thus succeeding the Italian National Team, which won the title in 2021.
Expectations are high for a championship that promises emotions and will bring together the best players on the continent. However, not only the prestige and the hope of winning a Euro Cup are at stake, but UEFA also distributes different financial prizes to the federations based on their performance throughout the tournament.

UEFA will make 331 million euros in prizes available to the tournament. This amount will be allocated to the different teams based on various factors, including, fundamentally, performance during the championship and the maximum number of rounds that can be advanced. In this way, the national team that wins will be able to obtain a maximum prize of 28.25 million euros (in which case it would have won in its three group stage matches).
As mentioned, the cash prizes will be distributed based on the “achievements” that the teams achieve throughout their participation in the Euro Cup. Thus, the distribution will occur as follows:
Achievement |
Prize |
---|---|
Participation fee |
9.25 million euros |
Match Bonus |
Victory: 1 million euros Draw: 500,000 euros |
Qualification for round of 16 |

We can see how the incentives are quite prominent. It is evident that the entire economic aspect for the players takes a backseat, given that the satisfaction of winning a European Championship in their cases is much greater than the amount of money they can receive. However, it is another incentive, and the federations could receive a good injection of capital if their teams achieve a large participation
in the tournament, which could have a positive impact on the players who could receive a part of that money depending on what they decide the managers of their selection.
