Honda brought the new one to the Suzuka circuit Civic Type R, these days also at the Tokyo Motor Show with camouflaged livery, to try to reach the limit, and even beyond, of its performance. Several drivers and mechanics participated in the test sessions on the famous figure-of-eight track to whip the model, taking care to analyze it both in the fast corners and in the slower sections, with particular focus on changes of direction. Just like the Nurburgring, but on a smaller scale, Suzuka is ideal for testing because it contains most of the features you need to have speed on all tracks.
To show his progress, Honda posted a video on social networks where the images follow one another in an adrenaline-filled way. The car is therefore shown from all sides, and although the unofficial livery its view is now familiar, with the three-terminal exhausts and the light signature on the front.
The new Type R looks good on the go: the wider fenders are particularly highlighted and the car as a whole looks more elegant than the previous model. The new Type R retains the three-exhaust configuration of the old car, but the tailpipes look larger and more modern. The sound of the Type R’s engine is also heard in the video and it seems to sound louder and better than the previous version.
Like the 10th generation Type R, the next model will have bright red fabric seats and a suede steering wheel. Honda will also bring carbon fiber and aluminum into the cabin for a sportier atmosphere. The central infotainment screen will again be key to the driving experience, and the ability to use telemetry is once again expected. Honda says the Civic Type R will be fully unveiled by the end of the year 2022.
