His Highness said via “Twitter” on the occasion of “National Environment Day”: “Coinciding with (the Year of Sustainability) and our readiness to host the Conference of the Parties on Climate (COP28), we celebrate National Environment Day today … the UAE’s commitment to protecting the environment and supporting international action to achieve sustainability … is firm. And continuous and effective for the benefit of its people and the service of humanity ».
In addition, the UAE celebrated the twenty-sixth edition of the “National Environment Day”, to emphasize the continuation of efforts to enhance environmental work in the country, support the sustainable development process and build a better future for future generations, publicize the effects and repercussions of climate change, and raise awareness of the state’s efforts to limit climate change. climate by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and burnt natural gas, increasing the effectiveness and investments of clean energy, and coordinating action within the country to reduce emissions, as an extended step for the results of the climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh (Cop27), and in preparation for the outcomes of the climate summit to be held in the UAE (COP28) during next November.
The celebration of the National Environment Day on the fourth of February of each year comes as a result of the country adopting a pioneering future vision in the field of preserving nature and protecting biodiversity from the repercussions of climate change by focusing on huge investments in clean energy sources, advanced sustainable technologies, nature-based solutions, and management. Integrated waste, including the removal of human waste in natural areas such as land and sea, reducing the consumption of single-use plastic bags, transportation, sustainable cities and many others.
