The very first comments
RTL has thus secured one of the most charismatic personalities in F1 in recent years, with Steiner having in the meantime defined his new role: “I will be the same as always. He will say what I think, but logically I will remain neutral. But I will speak clearly – He admitted – I will try to convey the information I receive to the viewers as best I can.”
The first opinions on F1 from the former Haas Team Principal, who in the past also took on different roles at Jaguar and Red Bull, focused in particular on his expectations for the upcoming world championship: “It's still difficult to say after the first tests, but at the moment it looks like it will be similar to last year. I think McLaren is strong this year. Among the smaller teams, RB has made a good step forward. He will also be exciting for Ferrari, if he manages to do well from the start.”
Speaking of Ferrari, the Bolzano native finally commented on what Hamilton's impact could be in Maranello: “There won't be many effects – he concluded – Hamilton is a professional, and Mercedes is also a very professional team. There will be no external problems. I think there will be no problems, but at least a hot phase if George Russell drives better from the start. It is logical that Lewis wants to leave Mercedes on a good path and come to Ferrari. So if George behaves in a way we don't expect, things could get heated at Mercedes.”
