Kilvett Zabdiel Bertrand, the party’s executive secretary, told Radio América that the party’s presidential candidate and mayor of the capital Tegucigalpa, Nasry Asfura, will soon hold a press conference to admit the victory of the leftist party candidate Freedom and Refoundation (Libre ) and wife of former president Manuel Zelaya, Xiomara Castro.
“We tell the base of the National Party with our heads held high that we are going to the opposition,” said Bertrand, who wished Castro luck.
According to the most recent partial, released this Tuesday afternoon by the National Electoral Council (CNE), with 52.42% of the votes counted, Castro has 53.42% of the electorate’s preference, while Asfura has 34.07%.
