In the return quarter-final between Roma and Milan, the Giallorossi player Gianluca Mancini paid homage to the young Mattia Giani, who passed away a few days ago due to illness, dedicating the goal he scored to him. Giani, 26 years old and a player for Castelfiorentino United, was the brother of Mancini's brother-in-law. During the match, after scoring the decisive goal, the defender showed off a t-shirt with the writing “Hello Mattia, forever with us” to the cameras of the Olympic Stadium.
Gianluca Mancini was born on 17 April 1996 in Pontedera. He plays as a central defender and right winger. He currently plays for the Italian Serie A team, the Romewith whom he signed in 2019. Mancini began his football career in the youth team of Perugia, before joining the first team in 2016. After spending two seasons with the Tuscan team, he was noticed by Roma who he purchased to strengthen his defense.
Mancini has proven to be a reliable and versatile defender, known for his ability to counter opposing attackers. He has represented Italy at youth level, participating in the European Under-21 Championship in 2019. Thanks to his high-level performances with Roma, he has also been called up to the senior Italian national team
