Genoa – Technology puts at the service of the police and forensic sciences, facilitating the work of operators and investigators who are called to discover the truth. The use of the 3D reconstruction is an example, but also virtual reality thanks to a software that allows you to reconstruct a crime scene by exploring it through an immersive experience with a VR viewer. Thanks to the three dimensions, it is thus possible to reconstruct the so-called crime scene, carrying out investigations several times that would otherwise be unrepeatable. To do this, a room is used and one or more operators are positioned who move inside the space with a suit equipped with sensors, reproducing the criminal action. The avatars become the protagonists of the virtual scene, as if they were the people who were at the scene of the crime.
A fascinating topic that could not fail to be the protagonist of theScience Festival, to be held in Genoa from Thursday morning, October 21st, to November 1st. There forensic police will open a real interactive laboratory, set up inside the Royal Palace. There, different activities will alternate. It will be the virtual reconstruction of a crime scene through the Laser Scanner Geosystem which will appear to the participants as a real map in which they can navigate, moving interactively in a 3D environment.
It continues with the exhibition of the photographic reproduction of the show “Fragments of History. Italy through the footprints, images and inspections of the Scientific Police “. On October 30, the event entitled “Mapping the invisible. Investigations between science and history” by the General Services-Archives Office of the CNR and the Historical Office of the State Police, which will show the period instruments used by the Scienti fi c Police School used for photographic documentation and for photo-signaling.
From 28 October to 1 November, the initiative will have space in a reduced form within the laboratory proposed with the title “Pills of History”: the instrumentation, the original signage and fingerprint documentation, used by the fathers of the police.
