A fuel depot was shelled, sparking a series of fires, the governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Sunday.
Gladkov explained that the attack was carried out with the help of deadly drones on the Volokonovsky area near the border.
“Several tanks caught fire as a result of the explosion. Firefighting teams are working to put out the fire,” he added on Telegram.
The Belgorod governor said drone attacks had taken place in three other regions, with no casualties.
The Russian Defense Ministry said it destroyed a drone over Belgorod and another over the Kursk region, which Ukrainian forces advanced into last month.
Border areas on both sides are subject to frequent attacks. Both sides deny targeting civilians.
