Football | HIFK’s Beto executed an Ilves official with a “karate kick” – the overheated goalkeeper was taken to the shower

The match between HIFK and Ilves got completely out of hand at the end.

of HIFK keeper Beto committed an outrageous act in Veikkausliiga’s Monday evening match against Ilves.

HIFK was losing 0–1 at home and was chasing an equalizing goal in extra time while Ilves was trying to play for time. In the 94th minute of the game, one of Ilves’ officials caught a long demolition ball in front of the bench in his lap and was caught by Beto.

Beto pounced on the official with the buttons ahead, while the teammate Sergei Eremenko rolled this from the side of the back to the back.

The 40-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper received a red card for the situation. He completely lost his temper and yelled at the judges with his head red. After already going through the locker room corridor once, Beto returned to the side of the field to shout.

Also HIFK’s goalkeeper coach Roberto Rivelino was sent off with a red card. An Ilves employee received a yellow card.

HIFK lost 0–1. The club, struggling through financial hardship, is still solidly in the jumbo position in the Veikkausliiga.

“Quite a match once again”, HIFK reports on Twitter.
