Solar flares are huge blasts of magnetic energy that emits from the sun.
Not all of these flares, if they occur, are transmitted to the ground, but the occurrence of this can cause significant damage to the electrical networks.
According to the US Space Weather Prediction Center, the speeds of some of these flares can range from 250 to 3000 kilometers per second.
And, according to the British newspaper, “Mirror”, according to scientists on the “SpaceWeather” website, it is expected that a solar storm will strike the Earth between Saturday and Sunday.
Scientists measure the intensity of solar storms on the “G scale”, and those storms are classified as “G1” class as causing minor disturbances in satellite operations, while those classified as “G5” are dangerous, as they can disrupt power and communication lines.
Scientists reassured that the next solar storm will only cause a slight disturbance, and its impact will not be significant.
Solar storms occur in the form of large plasma bursts on the surface of the sun, the power of which may reach the equivalent of 20 million nuclear explosions.
