Olympic Games Carlos Nuzman, who bought the Rio 2016 Olympics, is sentenced to 30 years in prison

Former Chairman of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the organizing organization for the Rio 2016 Olympics Carlos Nuzman sentenced to 30 years and 11 months in prison in Brazil, reports news insidethegameswebsite like many other media.

Nuzman, through his attorney, announced his intention to appeal the verdict.

Nuzman, 79, was convicted of corruption, organized crime, money laundering and tax evasion. Former mayor of Rio Sérgio Cabral and the CEO of the organizing organization Leonardo Gryner also received long prison sentences.

In October 2017, Nuzman was arrested as part of an investigation into corruption at the Rio Olympics, where he was suspected of organizing bribes to members of the International Olympic Committee Kok.
